Cameras and a Gentle Reminder

I am reminded that it's been a while since my last post when I look at my camera and the pictures tell a story or two that I haven't yet shared on my blog.  Not that anyone pays much attention, but it is nice to have it all down and the pictures available, just in case.  I just love going to Teauna's blog and checking to see her latest cooking attempt and all the goodies she offers.  Not sure how to generate such enthusiasm for my blog which is a pretty accurate reflection of my pretty boring life.  But it's a good life none-the-less.  I will take boring rather than the alternative.

Cole and Brenna spent a day with me when Shawn went to bring Brook and Dane home from the hospital.  The sun was shining and I could not say no when they asked to go outside.  So I bundled them up, found a couple of buckets, and out they went.  They tried to build their snow forts on the sidewalk, but Grandpa changed those plans in a hurry.  They had a good time outside and I got a couple of cute pictures of them playing in the snow.

Valentines Day (aka Teauna's birthday) was a busy day.  I made a bunch of heart shaped sugar cookies, frosted with pink frosting and sprinkles, and took then to the nursing home for their ice cream social.  It was fun and I came home with none which was my goal.  I even had enough to drop off a few for Shawn and his family before I headed to the nursing home.  I am reminded why I don't make them more often each time I do make them.  They are a lot of work and take a lot of time!!  Valentine's Day at our house was always more about a birthday party than the holiday it landed on.  Brad and I simply looked at each other, and said, "Happy Valentines Day".  Mmmmm, we really are old and boring, aren't we??

I have had Teauna's birthday tucked away in the spare room since before Christmas.  What a chore to keep that quiet and to myself!!  I have been so anxious and excited to see her reaction to the different little gifts I had chosen and made for her.  First, a way too cute apron that says, "Will cook for shoes . . . lots and lots of shoes".  Kind of vintage in style and oh, so, appropriate as she really does like shoes, lots and lots of shoes.  And, then, secondly, I made some cute little charms out of Mom's old broken jewelry (and some not so broken, but it is now!!)  And, last of all, I crocheted a wrap out of the softest yarn.  I wanted to do it just to see if I could and, low and behold, I did it!!  However, the first try was a little smaller than it should have been, so I did a second one with a bigger needle and made a special effort to keep it loose.  So, the first one I gave to Kenz so both mom and daughter could wear them together.  Probably kind of dorky, but I remember a few dresses that my mother and I had that were alike and that we wore and I never thought it was dorky until I got to be a bratty teenager.  Brad and I went over to Tea's for some pizza and I took the cake.  An oatmeal one with lots and lots of nutty frosting.  She and Brad's favorite.  Mike and Bradey, not so much, but then it wasn't their birthday, was it??

Yesterday was pretty quiet and uneventful.  And then, the caddy pulled in!!  What a pleasant surprise to see Tom, JoAnn, EldaMae, Don, and MaryAlice.  EldaMae was rather worn out so I sat in the car and visited while Brad, Tom, and Don visited a bit.  It sure was nice to see them.  And the weather was so warm and beautiful that visiting outside was a pleasure.  I really enjoy these guys!!  They have all been so thoughtful and supportive the last few years.  What would we do without family???
